Our class, while on a visit to Skogfjorden.
On Sunday, June 21, the first teacher program (of several) of the summer began at Concordia Language Villages. The Teacher Seminars program, which is now in its 21st year, is a 10-day graduate-level seminar where educators come from across the nation and from other countries to immerse themselves in a professional development environment, focusing on second language and immersion methodologies. We visit various Language Village programs and watch and experience language come to life for the Villagers — seeing language theory in action! This summer we welcome 16 educators to the Teacher Seminars program from: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington state, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, Utah, and from as far away as Tunisia. Their languages and teaching assignments are as varied as they are: middle school and high school Spanish, middle school and high school German, French as a foreign language in Tunisia, Arabic summer camp, Hindi/Urdu in a summer camp, Persian/Farsi in a summer camp, and German at the university level. We’re very excited to have such a diverse group of professional language educators live and learn amongst us in the North Woods of Minnesota!
